Immunizing Your Business Against Recession By Using Marketing Tools

By Glenn Ebersole One of the hot topics of discussion in the fall of 2005 is the concern about various types of flu and how people, especially those in high-risk categories, should get immunized. And I also note that there are some people talking about a possible recession in the world. So I thought we should look at immunizing our businesses against recession by using marketing tools. In researching for this article, I turned to one of my talented marketing strategy sources, Steve Hackney, the Service Business Profit Wizard, of Hackney Marketing Ltd. located in the United Kingdom. I have learned much from Steve and I most strongly agree with his advice DON’T STOP MARKETING! in any economic situation, good or bad. Steve developed what he calls recession proof service business marketing tools. I happen to believe these tools work well for other businesses too and I want to share them with you. Here are Steve Hackney’s 8 Recession Proof Service Business Marketing Tools: 1. Reactivate “dead customers” Contact past customers who you previously did work for. The quickest way is to call them and say “Hello, it’s Glenn. I’m calling just to touch base and see how you’re doing, since it’s been a few months since we last spoke.” Ask them what’s going on with their business, home etc. Don’t specifically ask them for work but end the conversation - “Well it’s been good talking with you. Keep in touch, and if there’s anything I can ever help you with, don’t hesitate to give me a call.” You can send a letter if you prefer. The purpose of the call is to keep in touch and serve them better. You’ll be surprised how many ex-customers will give you some more work! 2. Give a superior service to your customers In difficult times you want to hold on to your current customers. Give them more than they expect. Serve them well - better than before. Use my secrets for creating the ‘WOW Factor’ 3. Use cross sell and up sell to get more money from new and existing customers This is a great failing in many service businesses. It’s so easy to sell more to a customer, once they’ve taken that first step and said, “Yes.” Make sure you’re taking every available opportunity to sell more services to your customers. 4. Plan an aggressive new business marketing campaign It pains me to say this because this should never occur. You should be continually marketing - if you’re a POWER Marketer. The main reason for this is that relationship building takes time - particularly when selling services. If you start now it may take another 6 months before you see the fruits of your marketing. Continually marketing takes this problem away. 5. Experiment and test your marketing This is the only way to get more for less. Test your headlines, your offers, and your lists (the people you target). 6. Execute a postcard mailing Postcard mailings can be excellent for lead generation. One of my accountancy POWER Marketers recently got an 11% response from a lead generation postcard mailing. They’re inexpensive to produce and you pay the lowest postage rate! 7. Use broadcast fax advertising Again like all these things I’m talking about - fax broadcast should be one of your regular marketing tools. In the UK a fax can be sent for as little as 3 or 4 pence depending on the volume you send (and even less in places like the US). 20,000 faxes for example, can be sent for just ?800 (at 4 pence each). Better still that cost includes the list, and you’ve got no print cost. As long as you follow some simple (little known) advertising secrets specific to broadcast fax - you can’t go wrong! 8. Set up a planned contact strategy Make sure you’re contacting your prospects and customers at least once every 4-6 weeks and preferably once every month. Putting in place a contact strategy like this is one of the most powerful and effective things you can do. If you don’t already do this - I urge you to do it now. You won’t believe the results! I endorse Steve’s recommendation that you have a marketing activity plan running throughout the year. If you want to learn more about developing a yearlong marketing activity plan, please contact Glenn Ebersole through his website ay www.businesscoach4u.com or by email at jgeprman@aol.com Glenn Ebersole, Jr. is a multi-faceted professional, who is recognized as a visionary, guide and facilitator in the fields of business coaching, marketing, public relations, management, strategic planning and engineering. Getting a Payday Loan Extension

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Peter_Garant]Peter Garant A loan extension is an option which is usually offered by payday loan companies. There are many reasons why a borrower or client cannot meet his financial obligations with a payday lender. There maybe a family emergency or the car suddenly needs repairs. Such events are accommodated by lenders and this is why there is the payday loan extension. When a person obtains a payday loan, he must carefully read the terms and conditions so that he will determine what to do when he needs to file a payday loan extension. If information is not found, the person must ask the customer service representative. Asking does not mean that the client plans to get an extension. But acquiring knowledge beforehand is always important, not only in payday loans but in other aspects of life as well. Payday lenders require that the filing of the extension should be done on specific days or within a certain period of time. Most lenders accept requests for loan extensions the day before the loan is due. When a client is too negligent to request for a loan extension, he will be charged with late fees. And this also does not bode well for any future loan applications. Most lenders allow their clients to request for a loan extension online too. The procedure is usually made up of three simple steps: 1. The client accesses his personal account by entering his username and password 2. The client clicks a link or checks a box indicating that he intends to request for a loan extension 3. The client enters the new due date of his payday loan. The new due date is usually the date of the next payday. Some lenders require that this new due date should be at least four days away from the original due date. The new due date cannot be the next day after the original date. Other lenders require that the new due date should be less than eighteen days from the original date. This means that the new date must not be a month or two months away. Once the request for extension is approved, the lender will only debit the interest of the loan from the clients bank account. This amount is usually stated in the terms and conditions sent to the client. The client, however, must be aware that there are limits to loan extensions. Such limits are determined by the laws of the State. This means that a client can only make as much as three loan extensions. After that, when he is still unable to pay, he must arrange for other ways of settling his loan. Most lenders also accept partial payments. That is, when the original loaned amount is $300, the client may pay the lender $100 plus the agreed interest. This allows the client to have a lesser amount and lesser interest to pay in the next payday. Such arrangement is often advised and preferred by lenders. Peter Garant is writing articles about bad credit for his [http://creditrepairkits.blogspot.com/]credit repair kits blog and financial articles for his [http://www.faxless-paydayloan.org]faxless payday loan site. Wedding Vow

By Reidar Aas The wedding vow is going to be important, as this is a statement you make to your new spouse, husband or wife that is going to express your love for each other. The wedding vows of your choice can be short and to the point, or you can make an elaborate story of your vows. You will find that your hobbies, your interests and the things you love the most are going to have an impact on the wedding vows that you finally do choose. Wedding vows can be written by yourself, by the minister, or you can have someone you now write your wedding vows for you. How are you going to know what type of wedding vow you should be using and stating in your wedding? Depending on the type of person you are, the type of wedding you are having and your dreams for this day these are all going to play a big part in what you are going to say during your wedding vow for the day. The wedding vow you do choose, no matter what, should relate information that you are interested in living and being with the other person for the rest of your life because you love each other. Love is the reason why a wedding is going to take place and your wedding vow should reflect that point if nothing else at all. Where can you find out about wedding vows you need to write? Simply sitting down with a piece of paper and your thoughts is going to give you information about the wedding vows you should consider stating. The wedding vow that you write yourself should be a reflection of your thoughts and feelings, and no one elses. Using a few adjectives, along with the thoughts and expressions about how you want to live and be together for the rest of your life is really all you are going to need while you are writing your wedding vow. Using the original wedding vow that is part of the ceremony is often what many couple wants to use. The wedding vow that is all a part of the wedding ceremony is going to simply state that you will love, care and be together for the rest of your life. Yes they are simple wedding vows, but they are meaningful and will states everything that you need to know during the wedding ceremony. Using prewritten wedding vows, that are already established in the wedding ceremony will make one less thing that you are a part of the couple is going to have to worry about getting done and ready for the wedding ceremony. Have fun on your wedding day and remember to state your vows slowly so your soon to be spouse will remember them for a lifetime. Prepare Yourself for Graduate School

By Amber C. Smith As you consider going back to graduate school, one of the best things you can do is prepare yourself. Make sure that you are ready to deal with the challenges of school, and more than that, know that you understand how to deal with the challenges when they arise. Get a Mentor First things first, get a mentor. Particularly if you are going to be getting your doctorate, you need a mentor. Try to find a professor in your program or a former graduate of the program to mentor you. Not only can they encourage you through the rough times, but also they’ll have a working knowledge of the program that will be invaluable. Learn How You Learn Most of us have never taken any type of learning assessment, even though it is one of the most beneficial things any student can do to improve study skills and raise grades. Before classes begin, visit the career center and ask them to give you several learning assessments. Once you have taken the assessments, either you or the counselor will score it, and then you can go over the results together. The counselor can then provide you with study strategies that fit your learning style. All schools have someone who provides this service, almost always for free, and they tend to be part of the career counseling office. Create a Calendar When you start back to school, you will need to have a comprehensive calendar that lists all your assignments and when they’re due so that you don’t get behind or forget a project. If possible, begin playing with calendars before you start school so that you can find a calendar that will really meet your needs and help you keep up with events in all areas of your life. Wait to Buy Your Books Okay, this is a don’t, but it is important. Many students, particularly returning students, rush out to buy all the books they need as soon as possible. The truth, though, is that most classes either don’t use the recommended books or a specific teacher may never test from the required book. Wait until you start the class to find out what you really need, or at least talk to someone who has already taken the class first. There’s no need to waste money on books you don’t need, and if you can find them on Half.com, you’ll save a boatload. Relax Before starting graduate school, especially if you’re going to go full time, take a short vacation. Even if it’s only a weekend away to rest, find a way to relax and rejuvenate. Graduate school can be tough, and it may be a while before you have another chance to take some significant time for yourself to relax. Do it now, and you’ll be fully prepared for graduate school. Risk-taking - Get Your Feet Wet!

By Althea DeBrule We often use the phrase, Get Your Feet Wet when we are just beginning to learn how to do something or are about to pioneer a new initiative. When we participate in a project for the first time, there is usually a hesitancy to step out into the unknown. There’s no better way to learn than by doing. This requires that we move away from our comfort zones and step out into the unknown, which usually exceeds our reach and makes us stretch to get it. Stepping Out Into the Unknown The unknown elicits strong emotional responses, the chief of which is fear. Were afraid to take chances or that we will make mistakes. While mistakes are embarrassing, they can be used to jumpstart and enhance our learning. Other reactions to the unknown include: Hesitancy. Being cautious and tentative; playing it safe. Discouragement. Disappointment and worry; backing up and settling for less than our best. Pessimism. Focusing on the problems and challenges instead of the solutions and opportunities. While the above list is not all inclusive, it is helpful in understanding our emotional response to the unfamiliarstrangemysteriousuncharted territory. To step out into the unknown requires courage, commitment and conviction. How to Get Your Feet Wet at Work Courage. Prepare for your next challenge or opportunity by doing your homework. Learn as much as you can and apply that learning when working in indeterminate assignments or dealing with vague requests. Take a leap of faith into the unknown and just do it. Dont wait until everything is perfect and you are entirely readyphysically, emotionally, and financially. Youll never be absolutely and totally ready or ultimately prepared. Most times, you just have to begin, so build up your courage and take the plunge! Commitment. Once youve decided to do it, dedicate yourself to accomplishing the task. Its a good idea to get your feet wet by completing smaller action steps related to the task in order to test the waters without expending all your effort and energy at once. In any event, start small and see what works. Make course corrections as necessary, and remain focused and committed to completing the task, overcoming the main challenge, or taking full advantage of the opportunity. Conviction. Cultivate a passion and fervor for the task. Dont doubt or waver in your belief and confidence that you can succeed. Sure, you will make mistakes and encounter problems along the way, but you must be persuaded and have complete assurance that you can jump over these hurdles to achieve the goal. Every day, you embark on a journey into the unknown and experience what seems like a lifetime lived in 24 hours. Don’t be afraid to get your feet wet. Your first efforts may not be perfect, but you’ve got to start somewhere. Use the wisdom you gain from your experiences to strengthen your character and competence, and to prepare for future journeys. Student Loan Discussion

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=George_McGonigal]George McGonigal Solid research has proven that the job market is becoming much more competitive. Employers are looking for individuals who can deliver more knowledge, ability and experience than ever before. Those who are able to get the higher paying jobs are those who are backed by a solid university education. While a university education is no doubt expensive, the benefits it provides pays for itself hundreds of times over throughout your lifetime. You do not need to have unlimited financial resources in order to afford higher education. You only need to do a little research and be willing to provide information about your income and expenses. Student loans are available in the UK for persons who are entering university or who are continuing in university. Qualification requirements for student loans are typically based either on your income if you are an adult learner or that of your parents if you are still dependent upon them. Student loans are available to pay for both university tuition and fees as well as cost of living expenses. Depending on the amount of your annual income you may be requested to make a contribution towards the cost of your university tuition and fees. The amount requested is based on income; however unless your income exceeds a certain amount it is quite possible the amount you are required to contribute will only be a fraction of the actual cost. Even if you are required to make a contribution toward the cost of your tuition and fees, that is still better than having to fund the entire cost by yourself or else forget furthering your education at all. Student loans are also available for expenses related to maintenance. The amount of money you qualify for in regards to cost of living will normally be determined by your income, household expenses, whether you are living away from home and where you attend school. Because living in cities like London is often more expensive, students who attend university and live in London may be able to qualify for a large maintenance student loan than those who either live at home or attend university in a smaller city. Once you are attending university you may still be able to qualify for tuition student loans as well as maintenance student loans, provided your income does not exceed certain amounts. One of the best benefits regarding student loans is that you are not normally required to begin making payments towards the loan until you leave university. Even then, if your income does not exceed a certain amount per year, you may not be required to begin repaying the loan yet. This works to help a student establish themselves after they leave university. There are even special grants and student loans available for students who attend university part-time and/or who are considered to be mature students. Sometimes it is just not possible to attend university full-time. There are family considerations and in some cases you very well may find that you need to continue working at least par-time in order to meet your financial obligations, even you do qualify for a student loan. If you are a part-time student in the UK still may be able to receive financial assistance for the cost of your higher education. There are even extended time limits allowed. Mature stIf you have been putting off furthering your education and entering university because you believe you cant afford the cost of tuition and fees as well as supporting yourself and possibly a family, you should consider applying for student loans. The amount of money you are expected to repay every month is often determined by how much money you earn after you leave university and the amounts are generally quite reasonable. In order to begin the process to apply for student loans in the UK you will need to contact your Local Education Agency. It is wise to begin this process as soon as possible as deadlines to apply for student loan and grant applications; normally several months before you actually plan to enter university. Remember, there is assistance available to help you fund your higher education. There is too much at stake not to take advantage of it. dents, those who are married, have no living parents, or who have supported themselves for the past several years may be eligible to receive additional benefits besides student loans and grants. Wedding Planning Checklist - 2 to 4 Months Before Your Wedding

By Hilary Basile Less than 4 months to go until your wedding day. At this point, your wedding planning process is about details, details and more details. Perhaps youve taken care of some pertinent details, like sending out the save the date cards and coordinating the rehearsal dinner venue, but there is more to do! Following is a wedding planning checklist of tasks to complete when youre within 2 to 4 months of your wedding date. Wedding Planning Checklist: 2 to 4 months Before Your Wedding Meet with your florist to order your wedding flowers. Bring a sketch or photo of your wedding dress and color swatches of your bridesmaids’ dresses. Address all wedding invitations and announcements. Finalize your music selection with the disk jockey or other entertainment. On Writing Your Profile

By Erick Shipmon You’ve probably gone over the personals section of your newspaper before now. There are literally hundreds of personals in there and online as well. Searching the online dating services can get pretty boring when you see the same headlines for profiles all the time. You know the ones-”Single guy likes walks on the beach”-yeah, who doesn’t, right? Here’s how to make your personal profile pop. When you post it online through your favorite adult online dating service, get ready to find the replies rolling in on your email every day The first part of your online dating profile that’s seen will be your headliner. A headliner is a one sentence introduction to yourself, and should stand out farther than the rest of your profile put together. This is the first place that you need to get creative. So you need to ask yourself but one question: what about me is unique? This isn’t the place for false modesty, nor is it the time to allow your glaring low self esteem shine through. If you truly can’t think of anything unique about yourself, ask some one who knows you. Have you done something lately that you’ve never done before? Try “First time bungee jumper seeks partner for next fall.” Are you a regular bungee jumper? “Seasonal bungee jumper seeks partner for next fall” would be good. Get creative, but walk the fine line between weird and interesting. Now set that aside and take out a piece of paper. Write down everything about yourself that you can think of that you would want a potential mate to know. Notice here the operative word is potential. Do not write about your innermost workings, save that for later. Right now you just want the other members of your online dating service to become interested in you. Make your online profile interesting, short, and to the point. Do not whine about your past loves lost, or speculate on how someone as great as you cloud ever be dumped. Now is the time to get real, do you really want any kind of relationship that started out with lies? Two last words on creating your personal online dating profile: spell check. Erick Shipmon has been an online marketer since 1997. He currently is the President and CEO of http://www.eDatingPlanet.com which is quickly becoming the hottest and most desirable online dating community on the planet. eDatingPlanet.com online dating services include: E-mail, Live Chat, Live Video Cam, FREE VoIP Broadband Long Distance, and more! If You Like Variety In Your Cuisine You Must Try The Culinary Delights From The Dominican Republic

By Gregg Hall Those who believe the Dominican Republic serves typical Caribbean cuisine, guess again. With a plethora of fresh seafood, fruits, vegetables, and meats, the Dominican Republic blends culinary styles from Latin America, Spain, and France. As a result, the dishes are an amazing blend of flavors, mild spices, and varying textures. Unlike the chain stores in many countries, the Dominican Republic prides itself on selling fresh ingredients from their local markets. Typical foods are sweet potatoes, goat meat, pig meat, fresh saltwater fish, shellfish, mangoes, papayas, plantains, cassava melon, coconuts, citrus fruits, tomatoes, and passion fruit. Given the abundance of high quality foods, it is not surprising that locally prepared dishes are delightful treats. Pigs are an important aspect in the Dominican Republic’s meat markets. Spicy longaniza sausages hang from racks in many butchers. Pork is slowly roasted over a spit to a tender state of perfection. The Dominican Republic follows a traditional Spanish custom in which workers leave their jobs at noon and go home for a leisurely meal with their family before returning to work two or three hours later. This leisurely break is called La Bandera. During these lengthy meals, bowls of rice, meats stewed with beans, vegetables, fried plantains, and pitchers of water or other beverages are shared. The family enjoys time together, clean up, and then return to finish their work or school day. Many see the Dominican Republic as a poor area, but despite this image, their food is rich and hearty. The lack of wealth for some does not cause the dinner table to go empty. Full lunches together still occur five days a week. Many wealthy families in other countries cannot boast having so much quality family time! Sancocho, a delightful soup filled with huge chunks of meat and vegetables, is served for many meals. The soup usually contains pork or beef and then onions, sweet potatoes, potatoes, yucca root, plantains, cassava root, and broth. For celebrations, seven meats are mixed to enhance the glamour of this dish. Pastel en Hoja blends marinated meat cubes with other ingredients and then slowly steams the mixture inside banana leaves. Fish steamed with vegetables in coconut milk is also served in many homes. For dessert, fried portions of dough similar to Churros or fresh fruit are both extremely popular. Chicharrones de Pollo is the Dominican Republic’s answer to fried chicken. Chicken pieces are coated in a mildly spiced flour mixture and then fried to golden perfection. The food of Dominican Republic is a culinary treat that no person should miss. Even if one is not traveling to the area, it is easy to make some of these dishes in the comfort of your own home. What a way to celebrate a fabulous country’s cuisine. Gregg Hall is an author living in Navarre Beach, Florida. Engagement Party Games - True Love Pre-Wedding Fun

By Gail Leino Engagement party is a very hectic and an extensive task to do but this can be managed once you are relaxed and manage things out one by one. First of all you have to make a list of individuals that you have to invite. You need to buy the ring, set the venue, timings, plan for the dresses, and the different foods that need to be catered according to the guests you are inviting. Plan for decoration, send the cards for printing, but do not forget to design the engagement party games. Explain Your Partner After the engagement part is over, you can give out the initial food serving and pair up the individuals who will have 15 minutes to talk with each other to gather the facts about that person. They must be provided with a pen and paper so that they can jot down the points. In this game one partner introduces the other and it will be necessary that pairing up should be such that one partner does not know much about the other, which will serve as a very brilliant warm up between the two families. There would not be any winner but it will be really interesting to hear the different events of a person’s life explained by another individual in this engagement party game. Question The Couple This can be a very interesting engagement party game, which can be set for at the end of the party. In this game, the couple stands in front of the audience and the audience is allowed to ask any question that they like to, but since this party is a very special occasion for the couple, it should be taken into account that no such questions must be asked that are offending to any of them or would create a bad air, which will ruin the entire party. So to be safe, you can ask the participants to ask the questions according to the nature of the event. The couple would stand in front of all and will answer the questions of the friends and family members in which they can also request the couple to sing a song or dance, which is going to make this party truly an awesome moment. It is really important that every single detail is being taken care of and in order to arrange a party like that, it is really important if you can get a professional to fix all the details for you. Though this is your decision but in my opinion a professional knows the best approach to arrange the best engagement party as well as the exciting engagement party games.
